Barcelona’s El Prat airport is the second largest airport in Spain with over 30 million passengers passing through its terminals in 2006. Since the airports redevelopment for the 1992 Barcelona olympics El Prat has attracted international carriers offering cheap flights to and from Europe. Being located just 3km from Barcelona port the airport offers a convenient arrival into the city.

Barcelona airport arrivals and departures are spread across 3 terminal buildings A, B and C.
Terminals A and B are generally used for international flights whilst terminal C is primarily internal shuttle flights. Notably Easyjet use terminal A and Iberia, Monarch and British Airways use terminal B.

A scheduled Aerobus (A1) runs between Barcelona city centre (Plaza Catalunya) and the Airport. It leaves the terminal building every 15 minutes between 06:30 and 24:00 costing €3.45 for a single journey.

Directly outside the arrivals hall is the taxi rank. The fare for a standard four-seater vehicle into Barcelona city centre is around €18-25 depending on where in the city you need to go. Although much more expensive than the bus, there are nearly always vehicles ready to takes you as soon as you leave the airport terminal.

The RENFE commuter train runs between the airport and the Plaza Catalunya on the C10 line for around €2.50 . From here you can connect to the Barcelona Metro system which runs as an underground network around the city.
